Haleyville Motel

3800 Beech Grove Rd.

Haleyville, AL 35565

Dear Haleyville Motel,

I am planning some “me” time. I thought it would be nice to stay in your Motel, because I have heard reports of it being the most upscale motel there is. Also, I love Alabama. Its rich waterfalls and lurid soil entice me.

Haleyville is not far from my home town. The surrounding area still whispers into my ear through the wind (though it is highly unintelligible and sounds like someone gargling). I still think of Alabama as home, although I moved to New Jersey some sixteen years ago.

I want to stay at the Haleyville Motel because it resembles my childhood home. I have seen pictures of your polished mahogany banisters, shiny brass doorknobs, and rectangular windows. It all too much reminds me of the home that was.

I would like to stay at your motel from the morning of August 1st, through August 1st, sometime after 6:00 p.m. Although I have recounted to you the vivid details of the memories of my early days at home in the great state of Alabama, I will probably miss the mildly bland but yet wonderfully sublime Southern New Jersey clouds after a short time.

Also how far is your motel from Mt. Rushmore? I would like to pay the famous sculpture a visit during my stay. And do you serve food, or continental breakfasts? I, as do all human beings, require nourishment in this time-starved world of ours.

I hope to hear back from you regarding my reservation, and hopefully you will be able to answer my questions. (By the way, can you enclose driving directions from your motel to my old house? I want to see it with my own eyes after such a tragic parting sixteen years ago. Thanks.)

Con Mucho Amor por Alabama,
